Personal History 2362 - 2368

Hank Jacobs was born to Verne and Ellie May Jacobs in 2362 in the countryside just outside of Fort Knox, Kentucky, Earth. His parents were first generation Horse Ranchers. From the time he could crawl his days were spent outside on the ranch. As soon as he could walk Hank started learning the ways of a Rancher. In 2364 another child was born into the family; a girl named Amelia who would receive the same family education.

2368 - 2376

He did well in his secondary education studies at school, especially the sciences, but was always happy when his day came to an end and he could be out in the ranch doing chores and tending to those beautiful thoroughbred horses. Whenever the Vet came to check or treat one of the animals Hank would shadow him to learn as much as he could about what made these animals tick which he found fascinating.

2376 - 2380

The next four years went by quickly with Hank taking as many science courses in school that he was allowed to take. By the time he reached sixteen he would work on the ranch unsupervised which not only gave him a real sense of purpose but also gave him the chance to further develop his skills in animal care.

On one occasion one of the mares was in distress giving birth to her foal. Hank jumped in without a second thought to give his father a hand. She needed a Vet but the Doc was at least thirty minutes out and the mare didn’t have that kind of time. At Hank's suggestion they turned the mare slightly to one side enabling her to finish the birthing process. To his father’s amazement both the mother and foal were doing quite well given the circumstances. This solidified for Hank what he was meant to become; but he decided to keep it to himself for the time being.

When Hank reached eighteen years of age he managed to graduate in the top ten percent of his class. Going to his parents he informed them he wanted to attend the Academy and join Star Fleet to become a Doctor. His mother gave her blessing but his father not so much. Finally he came around and gave his approval after their daughter informed them she would one day take over the Ranch and usher in the second generation of Horse Ranchers.

2380 - 2384 Academy Days

After doing quite well on his entrance exams Hank loaded up his schedule with as many medical related science classes as he was allowed eager to get started on his new adventure.

Hank had a natural talent for putting his classmates at ease and making friends rather quickly. It wasn’t long before he found himself leading study groups to benefit not only himself but his fellow classmates.

The four years flew by with him going from a Cadet to a knowledgeable Physician. Graduating in the top fifteen percent of his class, which was very good considering the curriculum, earned him the rank of Ensign. Hank was ready to take the galaxy by storm; so he thought.

2384 - 2390 First Assignment

Upon graduating from the Academy Hank was assigned to the USS Hope a strictly medical ship taking on the worst medical situations no other ship would touch with the rank of Ensign.

Soon he would realize the harsh reality of nearly impossible modern medical situations mostly comprising of planetary epidemics. Working hard and paying close attention to every detail possible Hank received a whole new education steeped in practicality and realism.

The lifespan of a medical officer on the Hope was about five years on average given some of the dire situations the crew found themselves in. During the time on the Hope his hard work was recognized by his superiors earning him a promotion to Lieutenant J.G.

2390 - 2398 Second Assignment

Transferring to the USS Hemes, Nova Class, Hank found himself in a more palatable situation. He went from a stressful and hurried environment to one of a daily routine with time to get to know his patients; this pleased him greatly plus he was now treating his own peers. In 2398 his hard work paid off earning him the rank of full Lieutenant with the position of ACMO which pleased him for being recognized by his superiors.

2398 - 2402 Third Assignment

Hank’s next transfer was to the USS Endeavor, Sovereign Class, as an ACMO with the same rank. His time there want well with him leaning more into a supervisory capacity largely due to his CMO training him to take his position. In 2401 the CMO was transferred to another ship leaving Hank running the medical department. Things were going well until he hit a bump in the road.

Their Captain was becoming increasingly more irrational in his duties which caught the attention of his subordinates. Jacobs approached the Captain ordering him to stop by sick bay for a complete evaluation. When the Captain blatantly refused Hank began digging into his medical background. What he found was concerning so Hank looped in the Counselor and First Officer. After a lengthy discussion they all were in agreement. The three, plus security, went to the Captain’s quarters for a conversation. When the Captain refused to cooperate Hank was left no choice. Citing Star Fleet regulations the Captain was relived of duty and was dropped off at the nearest Starbase for further evaluation and treatment.

After the dust had settled Hank found out about a new opportunity and applied for the position of CMO for a Starbase; Starbase Mojave and was accepted as their new CMO.
