Location: Mojave Station

~Quarters~

Yesrin rose about zero five hundred and proceeded with her usual morning routine of showering and dressing for the day. Grabbing a scone and black coffee from the replicator she made her way to her desk. Taking a long sip of her favorite morning beverage, Yesrin signed onto her computer and brought up the specs for the Danube II class runabout. Taking a bite of her scone, she started going over the provided data.

Looking over the information she noticed the cruising speed was only warp 4 with the maximum of only warp 6 "Hmm, I know the Arrows are faster" as she brought up the specs for the Arrow Runabout "Lets see....the cruising speed for the Arrows are warp 6, the max is warp 8 while the emergency speed is warp 9.5 for twelve hours." Going back to the Danube data Yesrin saw the emergency speed for it was warp 6.5 for 12 hours as well.

Sitting back in her chair she grabbed another swig of coffee along with another bite of her delicious scone while thinking "So....if both Runabouts are on a mission together then either the Arrow has to travel slower or the Danube arrives to their destination after the Arrow by quite a few minutes."

Thinking for several minutes Yesrin reasoned " If I could somehow increase the Danube's speed, even by let's say a fact of warp 1, then that would help close the gap between the two different classes of Runabouts which would only make things better for any mission. Now she knew what her next steps would be.

After breakfast Yesrin cleaned up, grabbed her duty PaDD, and secured her quarters then walked to the nearest lift "Computer docking ring 4b" came the request. Shortly she exited the lift and headed for the Colorado.

Entering through the ventral hatch, Yesrin made her way aft. Opening the nacelle hatch, she grabbed her bright portable light and bent down flashing the light into the cavity. Seeing the inside she sat on the deck looking the entire area over "Hmm.....I wonder" she thought as she grabbed her PaDD and brought up some information "So a 200 cochrane horizontal warp engine" as she read through the details for the dimensions " just might fit into this cavity" she thought. Taking out her tri-corder she measured the area.

After securing the nacelle hatch, she made her way up front and sat in one of the seats placing her devices on the table. With the tri-corder and PaDD side by side Yesrin started comparing the data against her measurements. After checking and rechecking she realized the engine replacement just might fit; it should give her the boost in warp that she was looking for. Thinking for a few moments "Well before I go too far with this it's time to run some simulations."

Grabbing her devices Yesrin secured the Colorado before stepping into the lift "Computer Central docking Bay." Moments later she exited the lift and headed straight to her office.

Keying in her security code Yesrin walked into her office "Computer lights" came the request as she made her way to the replicator for another cup of coffee. Taking a sip she sat at her desk then setting both devices in front of her looking over the data one last time before uploading the information into her terminal.

"Computer run an analysis on the Danube Class II runabout with the installation of a new 200 Cochrane horizontal warp engine......will it fit the space and what will be the increase in speed" Yesrin inquired.

"Analyzing....this will take several minutes" the computer responded.

Yesrin sat, not so patiently, taking a few more sips of her coffee while starring into space.

"Analysis complete....the new 200 cochrane horizontal warp engine will fit the space. the increase in speed as follows: normal cruising speed will increase by warp factor 1, maximum crushing speed by warp factor 2, emergency warp by a warp factor of 1" the computer responded.

Keying the numbers into her PaDD she thought for a few minutes "Computer what will be the percentage of efficiency after the new warp engine is installed."

"Analyzing....the percentage of efficiency will be at eighty five percent after the new warp engine is installed.....below Star Fleet specifications."

That wasn't what she was expecting to hear "Computer explain."

"The sub Star Fleet specifications will be due to an excessive heat buildup in the enclosed area for the warp engines" the computer replied.

"Hmm" as she thought for a few more minutes "Computer recommendations" she inquired hoping it was an doable fix.

"Analyzing.....there are two possible solutions....the first is to vent the interior doors to the warp engines and the second would be to use a cochrane 175 horizontal warp engine."

"Computer how much of the additional warp speed would I be sacrificing with the cochrane 175 warp engine and what would be the new rate of efficiency" Yesrin inquired trying to get this pinned down.

"The loss in the additional warp speed would be negligible and the rate of efficiency would improve to ninety seven percent well above Star Fleet specifications...the excessive heat would no longer be a concern" came the reply.

Now this was doable and something she could take to the Captain "Computer transfer all data for this simulation to my PaDD" she requested.

Moments later "Transfer complete" the computer answered.

Sitting back in her chair finishing the last of her coffee, and as excited as she was at this new prospect, Yesrin knew this would probably have to go on the back burner for awhile since the craft priority at the moment was most likely to get the Achilles buttoned up and ready for active duty; she would approach the Captain when the time was right.
